KK Diocese Established CMO
PENAMPANG(CS).- The Kota Kinabalu Diocese established the Campus Ministry Office (CMO) under the Diocesan PAX Youth Commission recently. Heading the office is Franciscan Sr Florence Jidang.
The office is to help students entering institutes of higher learning to face challenges relating to studies, faith formation, relationships and finance.
Institutes of higher learning come under this officesuch as Maktab Penguruan Sandakan, Maktab Penguruan Kent, Maktab Penguruan Gaya, Maktab Penguruan Keningau, Insitute Teknoloji Mara, Universiti Malaysia Sabah and Biro Pembangunan Sumber Manusia.

Four Sabahans Attend BILA On Youth
PENAMPANG(CS).- Four Sabahans: Fr Gilbert Engan and Sr Judith (Keningau Diocese), Sr Terry Loukang and Dominic Lim (KK Diocese) attended the meeting on youth ministry organized by the Bishops' Institute of Lay Apostolate (BILA) of the Asian Bishops' Conferences Office of the Laity (FABC-OL) Jan 6-12 at Tagaytay, Philippines.
They were among the 77 delegates coming from Bangladesh, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand.
In its final statement, the participants called on all the bishops' conferences in Asia to give priority to youth ministry by setting up youth commissions and formulating concrete plans of action at the national, diocesan and parish levels.
They also recommended building a community open to people of all faiths, service-oriented and imbued with missionary spirit, a community of networking and sharing of resources among youth within Asia and worldwide.
They recommended setting up programmes to expose youths to socio-religious realities to help them understand social issues and church teachings and make them effective youth leaders to help transform society.

Fr Coogan Revisits Sabah For A Month
PENAMPANG(CS).- Mill Hill Missionary Fr Brian Coogan, 72, revisited Sabah for a month in conjunction with his golden jubilee.
A reception was held in conjunction with his golden jubilee Jan 27. He had served in the state from 1951 to 1960.
During the reception he made more than 500 of his former students, including Bishop John Lee, CM Datuk Seri Panglima Joseph Pairin Kittingan, Tan Sri Ben Stephens and Tan Sri Simon Sipaun, and parishioners roar with laughter and applause with his excellent recitation of old Hakka rhymes.
Born in St Helen Lancashire, UK, Coogan was ordained priest on 6 July 1947. He came to North Borneo (now Sabah) in 1951 and taught at the Sacred Heart School. He left the state in 1960 and is now attached to a parish in the Isle of Wight, UK. He was also posted in Tawau, Sandakan and Papr.
During his visit, Coogan visited Papar, Bundu Tuhan, Tawau, Lahad Datu, Danum Valley, Sandakan and other places.
